well i found a good remix of CZR's old southside DOO-DOO-BROWN. If anyone remembers that.. Good spots of some graff here and there
mostley just captures the aesthetic of the southside durin the 90's

BACK IN THE 90'S I DATED A GIRL WHO SAID SHE SANG BACK UP FOR JAIMIE PRINCIPLE. I THOUGHT IT WAS BULLDOO-DOO-BROWN AND DIDNT THINK NOTHING OF IT. WE WENT TO RENALADIS OR HOWEVER YOU SPELL IT AT CLARK AND DIVERSY. WENT TO TIME SQUARE AND WALKED AROUND. WHO COMES FROM GRAMAPHONE WITH A WOMAN ON HIS ARM. SOME CONSIDER HIS RECORD THE FIRST CHICAGO HOUSE SONG...THERE IS A NICE DOCUMENTARY CALLED "THE HISTORY OF HOUSE MUSIC" ITS NOT ON DVD YET BUT YOU CAN SEE IT ON YOU TUBE...AND REEM YOU MENTIONED TIMES SQUARE THAT PLACE WAS SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES BUT TO ME THERE WAS NOTHING LIKE WALKING INTO ALADDINS CASTLE IN THE HIP WITH A POCKET FULL OF TOKENS....LOL DEM DAYS |

Though I'll be the first to admit that I listened to hip-house at the time, because I was at the age where it was all around me, looking back, I don't "pine" for it. Actually, looking back, I think it sucked. Now mind you, House music "proper" was dope...but hip-house,,,,uh-uh. I was always of two distinct opinions,,,,Rock&Roll and Hip Hop, and no, I don't believe hip house was part of the hip hop movement. I beleive hip house was a local attempt to blend the two genre's together, which may have worked for some, but not for me. O.K. I'm tired now, all this writing about this and that, and I still haven't received a bottle of the black gold from SY. |
