sup chicago...just wanted to take a look at how different individuals from the North to the South came up with their names...i for one started out wit Zodeyak.Zode.ZeOne.(KctCrew) in 86-87..the name was given to me by Tech and Sed of Uac/Basf2...because of the zodiac slip-ons that i rocked during that particular era..lmao.i also took on the ZE initials due to major influences by CarCrew..ie SE, Une, De, Ae, Re...so on and so forth....it was durin this time that me and my cousin Vone(who wrote Pure at tha time)were asked to join the UacKids by Telly and Kero at school.......later that year i totally liked how Sarge.SaOne.Uac did his oneliner initial tags on Ravenswood rooftops..
so i started with just "EG1" for no apparent reasoning behind it...during that time i met one of Teemsters elite members while doin Howard insides by the name of "EVAR"...he was quick to correct me on my pronunciation of his name...eeee-vaaaaar...stress the letter "a" in his name.....and i liked that name alot...griffin panels taking up the entire space...well executed...i thought...during this time i was just rockin EG oneliner tags...so i thought i should come up with a full name....so i thought that the Kids needed an "Egor" in the crew..
its also short for egorot which is the indigenous tribe from my country before spaniards came an invaded....keep in mind this was during the time of the North vs South wars and mad shyt was getting killed!!!!it was also during the time of the Uac/Union vs Car/Teemsters war....god those were the days i tell ya.....ok ok...i
know this is a long story...i just wanted to bring up an interesting topic...and to see the mindframe that each writer was at during the time they chose their name, persona, alias, pseudonym...peace CHICAGO!

| BACK IN 83 I SEEN NICK SALSA'S FIRST THROW UP ON BLOOMINGDALE AND CENTRAL PARK I STARTED TO TAG "TITO" MY NICKNAME FROM MY FAMILY BUT SOON I FOUND OUT THAT MY OLD MAN KNEW I WAS DOIN SOME BAD sh*t SO I PLAYED CHANGE UP AND STARTED TO TAG "IRON MIK" BUT THAT WAS WAK THEN IN EARLY 84 I MET "QUIK""JADE""FLY 105""GQ ED""PHASE"AND "AC 1400" THE C.T.A. CREW QUIK TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO SHORTEN MY TAG TO GET UP ALOT SO I CHOSE SHAME BECAUSE AT THAT TIME NO ONE COULD GET WITH MY STYLES I WOULD PUT THEM TO SHAME MENTALY AND VERBALY. I FELT THAT WAS MY MONICKER FOR LIFE SO JUST RECENTLY I HAD A TATTOO DONE TO MAKE ME REMEMBER ALWAYS THE EIGHTY'S WAS WHEN GRAFFITI DESTROYED CHICAGO AND I WAS PART OF IT. EGOR, cool story! I had a lot of fun hangin' with TELLY (and FLEE and FLUKE) back in the day!
KEEP, wasup brotha'? Do you remember you, me and your lady (at the time) had Drivers' Ed. at Mather? We was gettin' stupid that summer. You and KATO were goin' off with the TDT and me and SHAGGY were tryin' to hit everything everywhere.
I don't have to explain how I got my original name (DEFACE), kind of self-explanatory. But FINE39 has a brief history. I had just gotten busted ('86) by Ed and Wayne from Angone's graf busters crew, so I had to change my name. I wanted something original, and FUTURA 2000 had the coolest tag I had ever seen (next to ZEPHYR), so I wanted something that had and "F" so I could do cursive tags like FUTURA. I wanted a number for originality, so I went with FINE69 (yes, there was a sexual reference). I decided that the "69" was too coy, so I changed it to "39", and the rest is history. The best thing was meeting taggers up and down the Howard line and they were like "Who is this FINE39, he's up. I think it's TRIXTER", etc... After about 6 months I told MENT2 and KEP and... Well, you know how graf artists are. Just like little grandmothers. Word spreads fast!
I was POSCA for a minute but didn't like it. Got that name from the little markers that were out at the time.
I also used EPSILON on the street tags for about a year (got that one from the Greeks).
That's it for me!

GOOD QUESTION, IT'S GOES BACK, WAY BACK....I WAS A FRESHMAN IN H.S. I WAS A BIG GUY. DURING LUNCH A SAT WITH MY FRIEND THAT WAS AS THIN AS A RAIL. WE HUNG TOGEHTER ALL THE TIME. THERE WAS AN OLSKOOL CARTOON CALLED TENNESEE TUXEDO. WILL HIS PARTNER WAS CHUMBLY. TENNESEE WAS A THIN DUDE & YES CHUMBLY WAS A BIG GUY. SO HENCE THE NAME CHUMBLY STUCK LIKE GLUE. I LOST LOT OF WIEGHT DURING THAT YEAR, PLAYING FOOTBALL& WRESTLING KEEPED ME IN SHAPE. THEN I LEARNED ABOUT BREAKING AND BOMBING TRAIN LINES. I STARTED TAGGING CHUMBLY BACK IN 82, EVERYONE BY THEN NEW ME BY THAT NAME. WETHER YOU WERE A WRITER, PARTY CREW OR WHATEVER, THEY ALL NEW ME BY CHUMBLY. ACTUALLY I TAGGED ANOTHER NAME WHICH I STILL LIKE, THAT WAS REROK. BUT CHUMBLY STUCK WITH ME. LATER I ADDED "THEGREAT" AT THE END. ALL YEA, DURING MY BOMBING DAYS I ADDED 0001 TO MY TAG CHUMBLY. LIKE SO CHUMBLY0001. MEANING THE FIRST. ANYWAYS THAT MY STORY, HOPE YOU ENJOYED...PEACE TO AL MY GRAFF BROTHERS...CHUMBLYTHEGREAT/CGA/TDK. |

Well at first my tag was Pyro ,then i went to a different tag because my life was changin' and all that other crap.And then it was SOBEIT which because of the length and lack of skill at the time i changed it to SOBE...but once again i changed it,but not to something different....i changed it back to SOBEIT because it sounded good,plus in the time between SOBE and SOBEIT my SKILLZ skyrocketed,and i was into pieces and stuff and the same letters S-O-B-E got real boring real fast....and there you have it.....PEACE |

ive been thru a buncha names so im not gonna name em all , but some main names that ive went thru have been nepik n then i changed my name kause supposedly some ol skoo kat had it . n then i changed my name to nykwil n for short it was nyk. i soon learned that there is a nyke from cmw so i once n for all changed my name to newser for short its news. my skillz have gotten better since i changed my name to news so im stikin to it regardless of who has what name , peace.

That was simple for me.I got my name from my last name.POKO is the first for letters of my last name.The dope thing is that POKO means something too.So there ya go,you got POKOROKA.
Hey OMEN we have talked before back in the day.I could be wrong.Two brain surgrys in the beginning of this year do to they found that I have brain cancer, has left me with a small memory prob.But your name sounds like I have met you or talked to you or something.
